Importing Japanese used cars to Ghana

Ghana drives on the right and requires left-hand-drive vehicles, arriving through the ports of Tema and Takoradi. Imports of Japanese stock must therefore be LHD units, with strong demand for compact sedans and SUVs.

Ghana applies an over-age penalty on vehicles older than ten years on top of standard duties, so newer units are usually more economical. Customs valuation is based on the Ghana Customs system.
